Battlegrownd started in 2007 as a FREE on-line freestyle battle arena born out of founder Queen the Prophet’s personal love for the art of freestyle. In 2012, QTP began working for an indie label in Miami managing their 3 artists. 2 of these artists (George Yung & Big Heights) came out of a larger collation of New Haven, CT based artists known as “DOBERMAN GANG” (#DBG, #427). QTP absorbed Grand Giovanni under Battlegrownd Entertainment in May and joined him to the roster in addition to Executive Producer/Artist Brandon Heat.
Battlegrownd.com became Battlegrownd Entertainment in May 2012 and specializes in Artist Management, Artist Development, Electronic Promotion, Consulting, Production, & Electronic Distribution. In 2013, Battlegrownd Entertainment became an official independent label & QTP stepped down from sole Artist Manager when the “7th Trumpet 26 Project” (read more in blog) was released 1/14/13. As an artist, QTP does not identify herself as an emcee. “I’m not a rapper. I’m not an emcee. I’m a prophet. I just testify to a beat.” When asked about her background in social services and how it relates to hip-hop she laughs, “I used to ask my artists if I could be called staff social worker. Nobody let me. LOL Somedays in music is like running a mental health drop in center. Anyone who does hip-hop knows exactly what I mean”. QTP will be releasing her first full project “Rise of the Phoenix” Summer, 2013 (Executive Producer @iambrandonheat)
